Think you could benefit from Dental Implants?

Fixing restorative prosthetics through dental implants is a long-lasting, comfortable, and natural-looking solution to many issues associated with missing teeth, including:

  • Fixing unsightly gaps in your dentition
  • Restoring natural function, particularly if you have difficulty chewing as a result of wobbly prosthetics
  • Remedies affected speech from loose dentures
  • Stops existing teeth from moving unwantedly into spaces left by missing teeth
  • Eliminates the need for inconvenient and messy denture adhesives, ensuring a fixed and secure position at all times
  • Reduces gum and mouth irritations from ill-fitted and uncomfortable dentures

How does Dental Implant treatment work?

Dental implants are long-lasting substitute roots for missing teeth, which act as an anchor for a set of natural-looking replacement teeth or crown. Our implant treatment process is carried out in four steps:

Step 1

Consultation and planning

Your dedicated implant surgeon will carry out a thorough assessment to examine your dental needs, determine your options, and discuss the best course of action with you.

Step 2

Placement of the implant

A titanium post is anchored to the jawbone under the gum as a strong and durable replacement for your natural tooth root.

Step 3

The ‘nursing period’

As it’s analogous namesake suggests, in this period we wait for your gums and bone to fully heal around your new implant.

Step 4

Permanent crowning

Once the soft tissue has healed, your dentist will adhere the metal ceramic prosthesis (or crown) to the implant using secure fixtures or dental cement.

At Brickfields Dental Care in Essex, the implant team are steadfast in their sympathetic and detailed approach to your dental care.

We see your implant journey as a collaborative, team effort between you and your dentist. Our treatment plans are fully bespoke and tailored to meet your needs, dependent on your specific conditions and chosen implant options.

Full arch dental implants and ‘teeth in a day’

If you’re missing most or all of your teeth and are tired of wearing uncomfortable and loose dentures, a full-arch fixed dental implant solution could be the right treatment for you.

The full-arch dental implant procedure is growing in popularity amongst our Chelmsford dental patient base due to the main procedure taking only one day to complete under local anaesthetic. This ‘teeth-in-a-day’ approach does not require the conventional bone grafting sometimes needed for traditional dental implant procedures. You can leave the practice on the same day of your appointment with either upper or lower arch of teeth permanently replaced and restored.

Implant-retained Removable Full-Arch solutions

The Brickfields clinicians can also secure a full-arch denture with dental implants meaning that the abutments hold the prosthesis securely in place, but the plates can also be easily removed for cleaning.

This implant-stabilised approach is a cost-effective way of replacing all the teeth either on the lower or upper jaw and eliminates the loose and irritating problems that traditional dentures sometimes afford.

Why choose dental implants over dentures or bridges?

Aesthetically, no other restorative treatment compares to the look and feel of a dental implant, and no one will be able to tell that you have a replacement tooth! Dental implants integrate into the structure of your jawbone, preventing the bone loss and gum recession that often accompanies removable bridgework and dentures.

Dental implants are in-fact, tooth-saving. They won’t sacrifice the quality of the remaining, neighbouring teeth because they aren’t altered to support the implant, as is the case for bridges. At Brickfields Dental Care, we aim to preserve and enhance your natural smile with the support of implant technology, providing a significant and long-term benefit to your oral health!

FAQs

How painful is it to have a dental implant fitted?

Your Brickfields Dental Care implant team will conduct your treatment under local anaesthetic to numb the gums and surrounding tissue so you shouldn’t feel anything throughout the procedure. Slight pain and swelling is common after the surgery and can be managed through over-the-counter pain killers.

Are dental implants available through the NHS?

Though implants are usually only available through private dental care, there are a few circumstances where they may be available on the NHS i.e. to replace teeth lost as a result of mouth cancer. Our dental team will be happy to talk through your options with you should you think you may be eligible for this.

How long does the dental implant process take?

This varies from patient to patient, however, the average treatment time is 3-9 months. Should you require additional preparatory treatment such as bone grafts or extractions, treatment time may be extended.

Very glad to have found this dental practice. They have been attentive to my various dental problems and treated them well. Practice is clean and Covid compliant. The receptionists are lovely as are the dental nurses who held my hand on more than one occasion (as I am not the bravest of patients). Dentist himself was very professional and knew straight away what needed doing and kept me informed throughoutIn all very happy dental patient and can now smile with confidence. Thank you to you all

I have just completed implant surgery and once again I cannot fault this practice. TC, the owner and my dentist today, is a highly competent professional, who is a perfectionist and someone who his staff say would trust him with their lives, you can’t get better praise than that. On this occasion, even the initial local anaesthetic was pain free. The receptionists are always very professional, friendly and very competent. I cannot praise this practice enough. Highly recommended.
